Ironwood Build Corp in Calgary has realized an impressive project, noteworthy both for its refined appearance and for its social mission: a facility intended for alternative equine care including but not limited to the breeding, raising and training of equine athletes.

Taking Care of Equine Athletes

Located in Priddis, Alberta, the Ironhill Equestrian Centre, a building constructed from wood and prefabricated steel components, is equipped with a riding arena and stables but also an animal care facility.

“We went for an American-style large barn with a door at each end and individual stalls inside. The building has a large arena, adorned with elevated windows on three sides, providing lots of natural light that balances the needs for openness and security” explains Ryan Schmidt, the architect behind the design.

Embracing Nature

The particular structure of this indoor arena is meant to perfectly blend in with the 300 acres of beautiful riding trails and surrounding fields and forest.

“Ironwood is delighted to have been a part of this adventure with Ironhill and it’s exciting to see such a project come to life”.
